About Ashraf
Ashraf El-Sharkawy is a Consultant Vascular & Endovascular Surgeon at University Hospitals Coventry & Warwickshire NHS Trust (UHCW), with over 15 years of experience in open and minimally invasive vascular procedures. He completed higher specialist training in vascular and endovascular surgery at leading UK centres, including King’s College Hospital, London, and Manchester Royal Infirmary, equipped him with the skills to manage the most complex vascular cases with precision and innovation.
Mr. El-Sharkawy has extensive experience in managing varicose veins and their complications, providing treatments such as foam sclerotherapy, radiofrequency ablation, and micro sclerotherapy for spider and thread veins.
Mr. El-Sharkawy is a trusted expert in advanced lower limb revascularisation for limb salvage, completed his lower limb revascularization fellowship at King’s College Hospital, London in 2018. He delivers both open and minimally-invasive solutions to prevent limb loss in patients with blocked arteries and diabetic foot disease. His clinical expertise also includes the open and minimally-invasive treatment of aortic aneurysms and carotid artery surgery for stroke prevention.
Alongside his clinical work, Mr. El-Sharkawy is committed to research and education, with multiple peer-reviewed publications and Certificate in Medical Education, reflecting his commitment to training the next generation of vascular specialists.
