Varicose Veins

You may have heard about spider veins, which is the mild form of varicose veins. They are common vascular conditions that can affect both men and women, although they are more frequent in women. They most often develop on the legs and feet but may also appear on the face, chest, or arms.

Varicose veins are enlarged, swollen and twisted veins that are visible just beneath the surface of the skin. They most commonly develop in the legs and feet.

Venous ulcers are the most severe form of chronic venous disease. They are open wounds that usually develop on the lower leg as a result of improper blood flow in the veins. When your veins do not return blood effectively back to the heart, blood can collect in the lower leg. Over time, this increased pressure damages the skin, leading to an ulcer

    Spider Veins

    Harmful? Or Just Ugly

    What are Spider Veins?

You may have heard about spider veins, which is the mild form of varicose veins. They are common vascular conditions that can affect both men and women, although they are more frequent in women. They most often develop on the legs and feet but may also appear on the face, chest, or arms.

Spider veins are small, thin superficial veins visible just beneath the skin. They may appear red, blue, or purple. They are termed “spider veins” because of their web-like, branching pattern.

These veins become visible when the vein wall expands and the small superficial vessels enlarge. They may involve a small localised area or extend over a wider region of skin.

Spider veins can sometimes affect appearance and may cause mild symptoms such as aching, burning, or local discomfort. In some cases, they can bleed spontaneously or if injured. Although they are often harmless, they may occasionally indicate underlying vein problems that require further assessment.

    Not Only A Cosmetic Concern

    What are Varicose Veins?

Varicose veins are enlarged, swollen and twisted veins that are visible just beneath the surface of the skin. They most commonly develop in the legs and feet.

Many people think varicose veins are only a cosmetic issue, but they can cause a range of symptoms. These may include aching or pain, a feeling of heaviness or tiredness in the legs, itching, burning, swelling around the ankle, night cramps, restlessness and throbbing discomfort.

Varicose veins usually develop because the valves inside the veins are not working properly, a condition known as venous insufficiency or venous reflux. Over time, if left untreated, they can worsen and may lead to further complications.

    Venous Ulcers

    Now It Becomes Serious

What is a Venous Leg Ulcer?

Venous ulcers are the most severe form of chronic venous disease. They are open wounds that usually develop on the lower leg as a result of improper blood flow in the veins. When your veins do not return blood effectively back to the heart, blood can collect in the lower leg. Over time, this increased pressure damages the skin, leading to an ulcer.

Before you develop venous ulcers, you’ll often notice signs of vein problems, such as spider veins, varicose veins, swelling around your ankles, and skin changes called venous eczema or stasis dermatitis

They may begin as small skin sores, but if left untreated, they can become larger. Getting your treatment as early as possible is important for optimal healing and preventing the recurrence.
